Matraque is gearing up for the release of their debut album. Scheduled for May 1, the album will be released under the Lithuanian label Ashen Tree Records. It will be available not only digitally but also in a limited edition on cassette tapes and CDs. Pre-orders are now open on the label’s Bandcamp.
Matraque was founded in the spring of 2023 in Minsk, bringing together musicians known from bands like Rowan, Televoid, krvvla, Схизма, Coat, Łaska.
In their search for a distinct sound, Matraque drew inspiration from Grief, Meth Drinker, Body Void, Primitive Man, The Body, Indian, Bismuth. Their music is a crushing mix of sludge, doom, and primitive death metal, where thick, dragging sonic textures are mixed up with mid-tempo outbursts.
